Warning Description: Areal Flood Warning

Warning Date: 4:50 PM CST on March 11, 2010

WarningSum:

Warning Message:The National Weather Service in Omaha has extended a
* Flood Warning for ice jams and snow melt in...
  Cuming County in northeast Nebraska
Dodge County in east central Nebraska
southwestern Washington County in east central Nebraska
* until 430 PM CST Friday
This is an extension of the previous warning. Ice jams and high
water were still in place in Cuming County. Highway 32 west of
West Point was still closed...and Highway 275 near the Dodge
and Cuming County line was also closed. Ice was moving downstream
in the Elkhorn river in parts of Dodge and southwestern Washington
counties.
Until the ice flushes out...ice jam flooding will be possible in
the warned area along the Elkhorn river.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Flooding is occurring or is imminent. Most flood related deaths occur
in automobiles. Do not attempt to cross water covered bridges...
dips...or low water crossings. Never try to cross a flowing stream...
even a small one...on foot or in a vehicle.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Platte River at North Bend.
* At 8:15 am Thursday the stage was 7.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 8.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* At 8.0 feet...rural overflows begin within reach of the gage, mainly pasture
  lands.
* Fluctuations of 1 to 3 feet in River Heights may occur due to ice action.
Warning Description: Areal Flood Advisory

Warning Date: 2:22 PM CST on March 11, 2010

WarningSum:

Warning Message:The National Weather Service in Omaha has extended the
* Flood Advisory for an ice jam and snow melt in...
Douglas County in east central Nebraska
northern Butler County in east central Nebraska
Saunders County in east central Nebraska
southeastern Platte County in northeast Nebraska
southern Colfax County in northeast Nebraska
southern Dodge County in east central Nebraska
western Sarpy County in east central Nebraska
* until 300 am CST Friday
Locations from south of Columbus...downstream to Ashland on the
Platte River are still dealing with ice action. Most of the
locations along this reach are indicating sporadic stage
fluctuations due to movement and in some cases the jamming of ice.
Further upstream on the Nance...Platte County line...a Flood Warning
remains in effect for the Loup river near Genoa. That was due to a
major ice jam which is now in the process of breaking down and
moving downstream. Remants of this ice flow should be moving down
the above stated reach from this evening into the early morning
hours on Friday.
Expect possible minor flooding along this reach until all the ice
flushes out of the river.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Do not underestimate the power of flood waters. Just a few inches of
rapidly flowing water can quickly carry away your vehicle.
